Working on something for the US/UK Iron Symposium while taking advantage of the CNC router here at SAW. Also a great exercise for creating tool paths.  Not too much clean up to do.

Salem Art Works!

Well, I made it out to Salem Art Works (SAW).  I'll be here for most of the summer on a work exchange program.  I'll be spending 20hrs a week making SAW a better place, while spending the rest of the week working on my own work.  I'll be posting more pictures shortly, until then here are my quarters for the upcoming months.

Runner Up! - DAM All Media Show

The Detroit Artist Market was kind enough to allow me to make a mess with the Landscape Painting Machine during their All Media Show.  The show was curated by Leon Johnson, an artist who's work revolves around social ritual and food.

The Landscape Painting Machine received a second place award.

"yes" was also included in the exhibition.  A taller ladder was obtained to take advantage of the higher ceiling.

Steve and my second attempt collaborating on a piece. The main inspiration for our collaborations come from our day to day work at Fortress Studios.

Fortress Studios

I realize it's been a while since my last update.  Where did all the time go?

Oh, into Fortress Studios.

Since this is the first time I mentioned Fortress Studios in my blog I figure I'll start with a brief description.  Fortress Studios is a collaborative project/life style that I've taken on with Steve McShane.  Currently there are ten artists, including ourselves, creating here at the Fortress.  It has been quite the undertaking but has come a long way since we first took over the building.  We currently have facilities for metal fabrication, cnc plasma cutting, forging, basic woodworking, ceramics including wheel throwing and wood firing.  We will soon also have a fully functioning machining setup.  The following are pictures to illustrate the amenities here with more to come.
